Staff Spotlight: Immy Gosling

Staff Spotlight: Immy Gosling

Last year we said goodbye to our Senior Team Leader, Immy Gosling, as she began her new role over at Fletchers to complete her final period of recognised training to become a qualified solicitor.

We caught up with Immy to chat about her huge growth through the Blume and Fletchers group, her legal background, and how she’s settling into her new role!

How long have you worked for the Fletchers Group?

If I combine my time working across both Blume and Fletchers, 3 years and 6 months!

Tell us about your first role with Blume and your journey to where you are today.

I began with Blume in July 2020, as a Customer Care Expert, then began managing a team during the Sunday shift from January 2021. As a result of this experience, I was fortunate enough to be promoted to Team Leader in June/July 2021 then again to Senior Team Leader in August 2022.

I applied for the Fletchers training contract around March/April 2023, receiving an invite to their assessment day in June. After successfully progressing to the next stage, I had my interview 2 days later and began to his new role as trainee solicitor starting October 2023.

Can you tell us more about your life before Blume?

I grew up and went to school in Altrincham on the outskirts of Manchester. After school I spent four years at the University of Liverpool undertaking a Law degree and then a post-grad LPC course with an additional law masters.

After my final University exam, I began job searching straight away. I came across Blume, applied for the Customer Care Expert role and began my position just two weeks later, way back when we were in an old church office building in Didsbury. It’s crazy to see how much the company has grown since!

How long have you been in your current position?

I officially transitioned to Fletchers on 2nd October last year, starting with a one week induction in Southport, before undertaking six weeks of training! By mid-November I was ready to move into the Serious Personal Injury team to deal with catastrophic injury cases.

How have you found the transition into your current role?

The transition has been great, with everyone making me feel incredibly welcome!

Taking part in the six week Fletchers Academy before joining my team full time was really helpful as it meant I could brush up on all of the skills and legal knowledge that I last used at university.

What is your favourite thing about working for the Fletchers group?

There’s a reason Fletchers is a top 100 law firm. The knowledge that I’ve been able to gain from working at such well-established company has been brilliant.

In what ways is working for Fletchers different to Blume?

My day-to-day job is completely different! At Blume, we focussed on the initial contact with the client and a big part of my job was communicating with the client effectively to ensure we built a rapport and onboarded them to pursue the claim with one of the law firms on our panel.

At Fletchers, some of the cases I’m working on have been ongoing for years so the relationship with the client is already pre-established. My priority here is advancing the case and trying to reach the best conclusion rather than create that first point of contact. We can’t afford to miss anything, so we spend a lot of time reviewing medical records and other relevant documents in great detail to fully pick up all details.

I guess if you want more information about what I do day-to-day it’s a lot of reviewing medical records and looking into documents in great detail as at this stage in the legal case we can’t afford to miss anything so it does require great attention to detail.

In what ways is working for Fletchers similar to Blume?

There’s a huge cross over in terms of culture! Both firms are very open and accepting, and there’s a huge ethos of working together as a team.

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

If you were to ask me this question a year ago, the answer probably would’ve been at one of the many great pubs local to the Blume office, though I’ve been a lot more proactive in trying new hobbies since stepping into my new position, most recently taking up reformer pilates!
